One in three people is diagnosed with cancer, the leading cause of premature death worldwide. In 2007, 7.9 million people died of cancer, representing 13% of all deaths; 72% of the deaths due to cancer were in low- and middle-income countries. The prognosis for cancer patients is improving every year, although some types of the disease remain impossible to control.
Cancer occurs when a single cell mutates to begin an unnatural, uncontrolled division, invading surrounding tissue and eventually interfering, or preventing, an organ or other part of the body from performing its necessary function. Cancer can occur anywhere in the body.
A cancer may spread to other parts of the body, or completely unrelated cancers may occur in other parts of the body. When a cancer spreads, the process is known as metastasis, with the original cancer known as primary and the new cancer sites as secondary, e.g. lung cancer (primary) spreads to or metastasizes in the liver (secondary). The primary cancer cannot always be identified or located.
Several contributing factors to cancer have been identified:
- hereditary likelihood to contract cancer;
- exposure to carcinogens (cancer-causing substances); and
- DNA characteristics that allow cell mutation;
but an absolute cause is unknown for most cases of most cancers.
Cancer is usually treated by surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy (radiation). There is no alternative or "natural" cure for cancer. Evidence that a positive attitude improves survival rates is conflicting. The best defense against cancer is early detection.

I agree that the FDA is flawed, as are most government bodies throughout the world. However, to take even a mistrust of the FDA and extrapolate that to believing that natural cures can cure cancer is absurd. Still, millions of people do this, supporting the mulit-billion dollar industry of "alternative medicine."
ReplyDeleteI don't think you really appreciate what alternative medecine is or does. I have met personally one person who was given 6 months to live (brain cancer ) by her specialists. She was not at all trying to mention this, but I had noticed some of the "alternative medecine" some really not expensive (like food) products on her shelves. She reluctantly mentioned a few things she did. And they fit what I knew of the various cures.
ReplyDeleteCancer (any abnormal cell) is simply a normal fact of living, it is just that normally our bodies immune system gets rid of it before it gets noticeable. So there are many ways to help your body. Just removing the bad apparent cells may only help temporarily.
Well, I am not going to waste your or my time ... but had to say something. Really. You are an intelligent and resourceful, ask around, many answers are there at the click of a button. It is hard to find good info tho ..
And if you think the FDA /AMA etc have any real interest in curing you, check out for instance the case of Burzinsky (one among so many! but this one sticks out because it is current AND has been well documented, PLUS he's winning.. so far .. altho of course few hear of it)
Re smoking, no worries, my mother was a really heavy smoker, but she (only) died of collapsed lungs, no cancer whatsoever. Her secret? must have been the 3 or 4 tall glasses of green tea she'd drink ea day. Now that was an expensive/ profitable "alternative treatment" (preventive, I know)
Well, to a healthy new year! it is never too late, cancer cells die if exposed to enough oxygen or in a basic environment (= not acid)
